Connector · Works with Paylocity

Use Claude with your Paylocity HR and payroll data

The Paylocity connector lets Claude read employee and payroll data from Paylocity, so HR and finance can answer routine questions about headcount, hours and pay without running a report and cleaning it up first.

What it does

  1. Employee records.Department, position, status, hire and seniority dates, employee type and supervisor, for one person or the whole company.
  2. Pay statements.Every check's gross and net pay, regular and overtime hours and dollars, and the earnings, deductions and taxes behind them.
  3. Time and schedules.Punches and hours worked, scheduled shifts and open shifts, by employee or across the company.
  4. Org structure.Cost centers, positions, pay grades and work locations, so answers come back by department rather than by code.
  5. Read-only.Claude can look things up and total them. It can't change anything in Paylocity. Bank accounts and other sensitive fields are left out entirely.

Who it's for

HR and finance teams at companies that run payroll in Paylocity, where the same headcount and labor-cost questions get asked every week.

What people ask Claude

  • How many active employees do we have in each department?
  • What were total overtime hours by department in the last pay period?
  • List employees whose work anniversary falls next month.
  • Summarize gross pay by department for Q3 and flag any department that moved more than 10% from Q2.

Who can see what

Payroll data is sensitive, so this is the first thing we settle with you. Paylocity's API gives the connector one credential for your company rather than one per person, so a person's own Paylocity permissions don't carry over to Claude.

We set the limits in the connector instead: who can connect at all, and which data each group reaches, for example headcount and hours for managers and pay for the payroll team. Connect only people who already have that access in Paylocity.

How access works

  1. Request access. Tell us your Claude plan and who on your team will use it, using the form below.
  2. Paylocity API access. Paylocity limits its API to its customers and approved partners. A company administrator requests API access through your Paylocity account executive, and we tell you exactly what to request.
  3. Add it to Claude. A Team or Enterprise Owner adds the connector once in Organization settings. Each person then connects and signs in with an account we set up for them. On Pro and Max, you add it yourself.
  4. We run it. We host and monitor the connector and update it when Paylocity's API changes.

Questions

Does Paylocity integrate with Claude?

Not with your company's data out of the box. This custom connector does it: Shannon Advisory built it, hosts it, and sets it up in your Claude workspace with you.

Doesn't Paylocity already have an MCP server?

Paylocity publishes the Integration Assistant MCP, which gives developers' coding tools access to Paylocity's API documentation. It doesn't reach employee or payroll data. This connector does.

Who sees payroll data through it?

Only the people you approve, and only the data their group is set to reach. Paylocity's API gives one credential per company, so the limits are set in the connector, and you choose them with us before anyone connects.

Which Claude plans does it work with?

Claude's Team and Enterprise plans, where an Owner adds it once for the organization and each person connects, and Pro and Max, where you add it yourself. It works wherever you use Claude, including the desktop app.

Can Claude change anything in Paylocity through it?

No. The connector is read-only. Claude can look up and total employee, pay and time data, but it can't edit records, run payroll or change pay.
